2015 Audi A3 2.0T Review and Road Test - DETAILED!

Once upon a time Audi's A3 was considered more of a gussied-up Volkswagen Jetta Wagon than a "real" member of the Audi family. Audi listened to the feedback from the press and owners and the 2015 A3 is the result.

As you'd expect from Audi, the A3 looks like a member of the family. While some find fault in this "one sausage multiple lengths" design philosophy, the result is that nobody will mistake the A3 for anything other than an Audi. Of course A8 shoppers may balk at the striking resemblance between the $29,900 "baby's first Audi" and their $100,000 luxury car, but A3 shoppers will be thrilled.

Inside the A3 boasts an interior that is several steps ahead of the outgoing model with standard leather upholstry and plenty of soft touch plastics. Of course with any luxury car and a low starting price base shoppers will have to deal with a lack of options you would normally find in a well equipped Camcord like dual-zone climate control and an iPod interface. This isn't unique to Audi, BMW and Mercedes play this same game with their entry models like the CLA250 as well. What seems to set the Audi A3 apart however is that adding those luxury features won't cost you as much as in the other German options. Even compared to the 2015 Volvo S60 the A3 manages to represent an excellent value.

With impeccable driving manners, excellent fuel economy, a lengthy options list with all the luxury goodies you could want and a hint of rear seat leg room, the A3 might just have what it takes to win the Alex On Autos car of the year. Of course we'll have to wait till December to find out, but the A3 is tops on my list at the moment. Check out the video to find out why.

As a potential buyer of this car, thank you for an excellent and in depth review. I've watched literally every YouTube and other video review of the 2015 A3 and this one is by far the most in depth (especially with the separate MMI video), well rounded and accurate. I would have liked to have seen additional footage at dusk or evening showing off the LED optional front lights and included rear to understand that styling more, but otherwise outstanding. This car is definitely at the top of my list now.

Love your reviews. I've seen a bunch of A3 reviews but none mention the fact that the A3 engine is mounted differently than the A4. I find this quite interesting and never gave it thought until you mentioned it. Great facts and fresh perspective. I love learning things. Keep up the great reviews

I'd like to point out that in the US the 2015 A3 the 2015 Jetta did not share the same platform. The A3 is based on the MQB platform like the Mk7 Golf/GTI . The Jetta didn't make the switch to the MQB platform until the 2019 model year. A3s were also sold without the S line trim in the US. I have a very early sales date A3 that did not have the S line package.
