If you think about it a base a3 costs 30k, a fully loaded sel golf with more options costs about 30k and both have the same engine 1.8t and fwd and the golf can be had with a manual so why not get a golf???

I LOVE my 2003 A4 Audi Avant.  It is still going strong after 11 years of ownership.  Never a rattle or squeak.  Drives like new with 98k miles on it. It is a 6-speed stick.  So it will be hard to replace the fun to drive and practicality of my wagon.  I am glad Audi is keeping the A3 hatch in the line up.

You said it its all about the name brand that's it! Which brings me back to the point I made earlier people who buy cars like the CLA and A3 are the people who just want the name brand leading others to believe that they are "rich".

Also, stop comparing the Camry/Accord to the Audi/Mercedes/BMW. Why do people buy Macs over PCs? Why an iPhone over a Non-Smart phone? All you need it to do is make calls and texts? BECAUSE OF HOW THEIR BUILT. Yes, the name is more "flashy" but that's just an added extra.

The Accord and Camry aren't compacts. If i want a smaller car, the only competitors for a near luxury, compact car with 4 doors would be the Acura ILX, Cadillac ATS, or Lexus IS.

People who get cla and a3 are wanna be rich people who like to show off 2 their friends and co workers how much money they have. They more reasonable choice wood be a top of the line mid size sedan and hey some might even be more fun to drive ( Accord v6, Camry sent V6, Fusion titanium).
