When laying down a hard wood floor or when installing a laminate floor, you may be faced with a task of changing the direction of the floor to go into a closet. Rather than trying to lay the floor backwards, reversing the direction of the floor using floor splines or a makeshift tongue that fits into the groove of the hardwood floor.
It is a pretty simple task. Just buy or cut the floor splines, glue and tap in place. Now you can proceed to nail down your floor in the right direction.

If you are installing a hardwood floor for the first time, you want to make sure you start well by starting the right way! Installing a hardwood floor can be done with typical DIY skills if you have the right tools , basic knowledge plus tips and tricks and bring a careful eye to detail. The finished hardwood floor is truly beautiful so the effort to do the bamboo floor install is well worth the time and effort.
The hardwood flooring boards were about 3.5 inches wide and 5/8 inch thick.

This is really cool, ive never seen anyone make their own tongue like that. usually we just facenail when we reverse direction. this is way smarter, ill be doing it like this from now on. thanks for the video man.

Very nice. I've seen some that put that little piece of wood in there (to make a tongue on what was formerly a groove side) and then drive a nail in on that said. Otherwise where the two boards come together there would be no nail in either board on that side. But with narrow boards maybe that isn't an issue.

Speaking of really EASY, don’t take the time necessary to fabricate homemade splines on a table saw. Instead buy “ slip tongues” from the company (e.g., Bruce) that originally milled the flooring.
