As a 15 yr Celtics fan i done heard and seen some of the worse comments directed towards not only just them but the entire organization. Even just being a Tatum fan and wearing his jersey out in Cleveland I been called the worse names imaginable. Now everybody showing respect. They definitely had to earn it. PG sounding like he respects and maybe even wishes he got to play for Celtics. The history of the franchise. The crowd/fandom. You win in Boston, you're a legend for life. If you were even a bench warmer and want to stay up in Boston, the city/team will ensure you live a good life. PG is right. You do it for a team like Boston or LA, you get even more juice. See M.L. Carr and Scalabrini. In a different sport, see Lou Merloni. These were perennial bench players, and they all have/had a long career in Boston media.
