I'm proud to say my pops help build this plane. High altitude pressure specialist, he is gone now but the Blackbird lives on. And in a way so does he. I miss you pops.

I was at Miramar for an air show in the 80’s when a SR-71 flew by coming from Hawaii and it was just going to turn around over Las Vegas and come back to land in 15 minutes. That is 250 miles each way by my math that is close to 2000 MPH or Mach 3. It went full throttle and disappeared with a load bang. Everyone there jumped and let out a cheer. That was the most American thing I have ever seen. 🇺🇸

I think the SR71 is one of the most beautiful planes ever made.

This thing was built in the 1960s. Imagine what kind of aircraft they have now. They're just keeping it all a secret.

It's 70 years old and still looks like it's from the future! 🔥

Had the pleasure to actually serve at Beale AFB CA where the SR -71 was housed, one of the most beautiful aircraft in its time!

I was lucky and grew up around Beale AFB and got to see this jet fly almost daily in the 80's, early 90's.

I remember as a kid back in the late 50s hearing the sound barrier being broken. It would literally shake our house windows.

I was flying back from Iraq in a C-5 Galaxy, we stopped in Roto, Spain for about 6 hours then started again across the Atlantic headed for Ft. Bragg/Pope Airfield. Well we started having Hydraulic issues and had to redirect to Hanscom Air Force base in Massachusetts. We landed and taxied over to the terminal, when I got off the plane I watched a Blackbird get ready and take off! I can’t even describe how Fast that plain was out of sight once it was off the ground! It was climbing damn near straight up! I’m talking seconds gone, but you could still hear it as it was out flying the sound!

Now this was in 2003, the SR-71 supposedly had been Retired and out of service since 1998! I don’t believe they truly Retired the Blackbird! It was still flying missions 5 years after supposedly being Retired! I bet they are still flying versions of that plane to this very day!

The SR-71 is freakin' awesome.
It was designed to defend itself by simply outrunning any enemy aircraft or missiles.
