Good fake. I fell for it before I remembered that they would never perform those maneuvers over a metropolitan area.

Unfortunately there are no flyable SR-71’s in existence.

Now for SR-72’s, that’s a different story.

If I recall the SR-71 had a distinguishable sound signature it made as it broke the sound barrier. I heard it would make a bang!-bang! noise in quick succession due to the nose cone and jet engine configuration. Instead of a single bang! you hear on other jets as they go supersonic.

Is it just me or can I hear the missile guidance system in the background?

In 1989, the USAF retired the SR-71, largely for political reasons; several were briefly reactivated during the 1990s before their second retirement in 1998. NASA was the final operator of the Blackbird, using it as a research platform; it was retired again in 1999.

Looks good, just needs a shock cone visual effect around the craft as it hits the sound barrier. Fun clip!

Really nice camera work on this! I especially liked where you zoomed in and showed the afterburners kick in. Thanks!

Imagine having an aircraft that flies faster and outruns anything that is shot at it.

Lol the alarm is awesome. Never saw it fly but have seen it in DC at the museum.
This is a great video, almost looks real. If was going fast enough the break sound it would be moving much faster.
