If you would like minimalism to make your life easier, help you save money and make you focus on the important things, you should learn about this Japanese method known as Danshari.

Danshari 断捨離 is a word made of three kanji characters: 断 Dan, which means refuse; 捨 Sha, which means throw away, and 離 Ri, which means separate.

Practising Danshari means that you refuse everything that does not help you achieve happiness, throw away everything you have too much of, and separate the important from the unnecessary. This practice is not exclusive to physical objects. We can also use Danshari to clear the excess from our minds.

If you did not have as many possessions or wishes, you could easily enter a mental state that Japanese people call Wabi, a mental state in which you do not depend on material possessions or non-material achievements to find happiness and peace.
