Olympics 2024: 2 boxers in gender controversy now in medal contention

A Taiwanese boxer at the centre of a gender controversy has fought her way into a medal position. Lin Yu-ting won her match Sunday, joining Algeria’s Imane Khelif in the semi-finals.

Their inclusion in the games has sparked a torrent of backlash but the International Olympic Committee has staunchly defended both athletes, confirming that they are both women.
