Some countries are overly concerned with rehabilitation. Imagine wanting to send your best, the pride of your country, and one of them violated a child. The Dutch Committee should be ashamed. There is absolutely no excuse for what he did. I do not know a single person that wanted to touch a 12-year-old at 19, myself included.

The biggest irony, the British judge that sentenced him literally said “you’ve thrown away everything you could have become”. Unfortunately, the judge was more moral than the Dutch government.

Let's not play dumb here... my 14 year old knows actions like this would never be okay. How the hell would being 19 and still figuring things out suffice as any kind of excuse... send him home... I don't care how good he is or that he "served" his time... his sentence was a joke and a complete injustice to the victim. How does she feel about seeing her rapist compete in such an honorable event such as the Olympics? Can she even bring herself to watch it? Disgusting... if he can't stay in the village with the athletes, what kind of an athlete is he? He's a rapist first, and that can't be rehabilitated...
