Surprisingly healthy processed snacks – is there such a thing?! I’ve got a haul of unexpectedly CLEAN snacks from the grocery store, and you’ll be surprised by how few ingredients they have…

What are processed foods anyway? And why are processed foods bad for you? Of course, “healthy” and “clean” are broad terms that’re open to interpretation, but not ALL processed foods are “bad” or “junk” or “unhealthy.” These labels tend to be more harmful than helpful, when in reality some processed snacks are cleaner and less processed than others.

So today, I’ve got a surprisingly healthy snack haul featuring over 20 healthy processed snacks with only A FEW ingredients each – from healthy chips to healthy crackers to cleaner candies, even with some classics like Fritos and Tostitos in the mix!

Let’s rethink our labels for processed food and junk food, let’s READ the ingredients lists on food packaging, and let’s practice making peace with the snacks that bring us joy. You never know – some of your favorite processed snacks might be surprisingly healthy and clean!

As I’ve been healing my relationship with food, I’ve realized that many processed foods aren’t NEARLY as “damaging” nutritionally as I’d thought—I’m not saying these are as “healthy” as vegetables, but for sure—better than you might think! Add any processed foods you’re surprised by (health wise) to the comments below!!

I subscribed to you a while back in hopes you'd show me recipes on how to lose weight, but quickly realized that you've helped me in a much deeper way; you've changed how I view food. I did not know the extent of how bad my relationship with food was, but now that I'm aware and I practice mindful eating or intuitive eating, I'm so much better off.
I might have lost weight, but ultimately that doesn't matter as much as the relationship to food and my body.

I cant tell you how amazing it is to hear these food neutral and food positive phrases and options from a mainstream channel! It can be so difficult to look for food planning inspo without the video being full of restrictive phrases and even fatphobic jokes. Thank you for sharing what you are learning!

Love this so much. I’m really loving this movement of unpacking our food biases and examining how they contribute to unhealthy relationships with food, body image, and weight bias. Also, I love how you were constantly reminding us that whether or not something is “worth” eating is completely up to us to decide.

LOVED this video SOOO much!!!! it's hard to completely give up processed snacks and sometimes subbing them with healthier alternatives just makes me end up eating more to try to satisfy my craving. it's so helpful for us to know that we can still find better options even when we're eating processed snacks.

As usual, I appreciate your videos and especially this one. I'm glad you covered this topic as I've been dealing with something similar as far as feeling guilty about eating certain things and being able to make peace with myself about those things.

A lot of the foods you mentioned did surprise me as to how few ingredients they have. I'm not really a potato chip person, never have been but corn chips and tortilla chips always have a place close to my heart.

I love this! Eating healthy is so important but letting ourselves indulge is important too. I’m pregnant right now and craving junk but it’s all about making better choices a majority of the time or when you can. I also have a one year old who insists on eating what we eat so that’s majorly changed our eating habits. I’m less inclined to make a meal that she can’t have as well. Thanks for making these videos and acknowledging BED! Balance IS key!

canola oil = inflammation. non-organic potatoes used in chips = sprayed heavily with pesticides. Let's not forget these facts. Yes, fewer ingredients are better but the QUALITY of them are just as important, even if there are only 3.

You were the one that got me to reading food labels consistently several years ago. My husband was going through what I called a food crisis where he was absolutely miserable with making substitutiins for some of his favorite foods. That was actually how I found your channel. Anyhoo, we talked about his reasons for suddenly needing this substitution stuff. We discovered that synthetic/chemical additives were the biggest concern and that led me to reading labels everywhere.

Long story short, we have been able to make better informed choices. So, I thank you for your encouragement and sharing your passion ❤️
