The hiking biking lace requires there be an even number of eyes on each side. What if there are an odd number of eyes?

The ukranian lacing is just ridiculous. The knot at the top is just gonna make it harder to get off at the end of the day. I can't see why anyone would go to the hassle of doing this one.
