Black woman from America moved to Paris and she became famous. She went back to the US to fight for black rights, got discouraged, and moved back to Paris. Proving my point that racism is everywhere, but america is number one 😑

There's a movie called A Call to Spy. Its based on the story of 3 women named Virginia Hall, Vera Atkins and Noor Inayat Khan and their work during WW2

I would add, Marion Elizabeth (Walsh) de Chastelain. She spoke 7 lanquages and worked directly for Sir, William Stevenson (who PM Chruchill had given the code name "INTREPID" ) she later worked for SIS later the MI6. She worked with Amy Elizabeth Thorpe and established a working repoir between British and American agencies.

I was really hoping Nancy Wake would be on here. She was a real badass and one of the few New Zealand born female spies to be recognised for her accomplishments.

Mata Hari was born in Leeuwarden, capital city of the provence of Fryslan, in the Netherlands. The same city i was born.

Maggie Leones should have been here. She did earn a Silver Star Medal for her role in the Pacific (PH) during WW2

There must have been Top 20 instead of Top 10, including, among others Nancy Wake (GB), Denise Bloch, Odette Sansom (French), and don't forget JULIA CHILD (US) who joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in 1942 after finding that she was too tall to enlist in the Women's Army Corps (WACs) or in the U.S. Navy's WAVES. On the other hand, there was an anti-hero : Ethel Rosenberg, the wife of Julius Rosenberg who were executed for being spies for the Soviet union.

Remember hearing about Skarbek on the Great Lives podcast a number of years ago (I'd highly recommend, full of interesting stories) remarkable woman, there's even something of an urban legend that she was one of the inspirations for James Bond. As great as her story is though I couldn't believe how it ended, one of the hardiest women of the century, killed by a crazed stalker, unbelievable.
