Underground Utilities

This video demonstrates why it is important to know the location of all underground utilities before you dig. Never try to save time by taking shortcuts and compromising your safety. You're a pro; there's always time to do it right.

I saw 2 similar accidents with this one:
1: 4-storey block of flats collapsed by an infiltration from a gas pipe in the street in 2007.
2: A restaurant that didn't even have gas was blown up by a gas infiltration from a gas pipe in the street, injuring (burning) 7 girls . At the restaurant there was a second explosion caused by the representative of the gas company and by the police chief of that city: they entered the place with a lit cigarette and caused a second explosion that injured 10 more people + the police chief was blinded and the representative of the gas company he died.
In both cases there were dead, wounded and disfigured people for life.

That happened the city came to replace a culvert pipe and I had the telephone line marked. The city did not mark the water line or gas line they just started digging and cut the water, gas, telephone lines. I just could not believe they did that it was a good thing they did not strike the main gas line.

where I live Utilities gas electrical underground etc get hit a few times they drill into us call before u dig but guess who hits lines ? the utilities the ones who supply it

Striking a gas main, hydro cable or any fiber optic is any operators worst nightmare. Locates shall never be disregarded. I think a foreman/operator need to discuss locates prior to working in any area with the whole crew

Somone should be with the operator while digging at all times it would of took one good laborer a minute if easy digging or 5 if hard digging to dig down and find the utility and inform the operator there is a fucking utility there either way that 5 minutes of waiting for the dude to dig will save you a fortune because replacing utilities cost a hell of a lot more then paying a guy to hand dig for alittle mean with how expensive these mistakes can be you would think most people would be doing it right but that’s just not the case
