In addition to the workmanship, what really blows me away about this vid is the sense of pride the dad has in his son. It's so positive. While the credit goes to the son for putting this difficult piece together, the old man gets my vote on giving his son 100% credit for the build, and for the years of teaching, sharing and making time for his son that came before - obviously none of that is captured in the vid, but you know it had to be there to be able to pull this off. Respect to all.

BRAVO KID. To be able to even conceptualize this in your mind is really special. What a future you have ahead of you. We can hear the pride and joy in your father's voice as he talked us through your project. That is the real prize your relationship you two have.

Nice job Matt! The attention to detail that it took for this project to come together the way it did is absolutely pain staking and you performed flawlessly, BRAVO Matt!!

Just the work bench alone is gorgeous... I cringed when stuff slid across it. Great woodworkers are so patient... I wish I had *half* of Matt's. Fabulous craftsmanship. And the videographer/ narrator isn't too shabby either!!!

To complete a project like this, you must be able to visualize the finished item and the steps necessary to get you there. That takes a very complex and well-organized mind. This is a really great job well done. Thank you for sharing.

I have no words that could adequately express my immense sense of wonderment. This piece is truly spectacular & beautiful. As the pattern didn’t really jump out until towards the end I’m left wondering how on earth could such an intricate pattern be envisaged, but even more astonishing is how on earth did you even begin to work out how to go about placing the different timbers together, how to cut them and how all the component parts should fit together? It’s actually virtually impossible to imagine how a person with just the one brain could ever visualise the pattern, but to then actually produce what was in your minds eye? Nah I don’t buy it, you couldn’t have done this by yourself, I’m convinced you were visited by superior beings from a far away world that then took you to be the chosen one to implant these extraordinary skills into. That is the only explanation I can think of.

All joking aside, I’d be extremely interested in hearing both how you came up with such an intricate design and how you figured out how to work out what timbers to mate together and how on earth to go about piecing them all together to produce the final exquisite piece? I wouldn’t blame you if you’d prefer not to give your design process away, but even if you gave a detailed description of how you went about it, and even though I’m a reasonably accomplished part time cabinet maker of over 40 years, [ I have made several end grain boards but not on this kind of level] I would have to concede that a project such as this is beyond my abilities.
