While I love Coyote's work, everything I've read about owls suggests that one was just bobbing its head to help gauge the distance/direction, etc. of Coyote from where it was. An owl's eyes are too big to move much in their sockets, so they have to move the whole head instead.

Further, I've read that actual defensive behavior in burrowing owls include them making sounds that resemble the rattle of a rattlesnake.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I've just never heard of head bobbing as a threat gesture in owls.

If children rode cheetahs, the cheetah would run off with the child and eat it for lunch

I laughed so hard when the male owl was bobbing his head like on a rock concert

In regards to the cheetah question, I remember watching another wildlife YouTube channel that was asked the same question (it was a while ago, but I think it might have been on Big Cat Rescue). They showed a cheetah running and explained that because of the way it moved (something to do with it's back and shoulders) it would be impossible for anything to ride on it.

So cute. I love owls! Where do these guys live? My daughter says we have owls around here at night but I've never gotten to see or hear them. They say we are privileged to have more Snowy owls here in winter now. They are SO beautiful! We r in Illinois. North. Thanks for the wonderful vids!

I sense one flaw to the Owl's way of defense. What if their burrow was attacked from the underground? Or maybe the predator stayed behind and figured out where the burrow was? Would the owls attack then?

Ah, so many questions so little time XD
