The way she inspected the place when she first got in was freaking adorable.

I remember in third grade my teacher taught us the birds built up their nests with hair if they could find any. We had Robins all around our property. I went home and cut all the hair off of all of my My Little Pony’s and spread it all over the yard. The following year my sister and I found a nest in one of my Grandmothers bushes that was laced with blue, pink, and green hair. I will never forget that.

We clean our nest boxes out every spring and put in a big handful of cedar shavings as a base layer. It fills much of the void in the box, cutting down on the birds labor. Cedar is also a natural deterrent of lice, mites and insects such as ants which have been known to swarm nests and kill baby birds.
