more history buffs got injured watching this, than soldiers in the clip

In reality the battlefield was 7 miles long and Napoleon had to send written orders via horsemen up and down the line coordinating things perfectly. It’s difficult to appreciate how complex this stuff was. The movement of 70, 000 French and 80, 000 Russian and Austrian troops took up huge areas. Napoleon deliberately let the enemy occupy the high ground which made them overconfident and attack too hastily. When they moved huge columns of men off the heights to attack Napoleons right flank, (which he deliberately strung out to make it look weak and tempting to attack, but he had a corps ready to support his flank once the enemy got stuck into combat) Napoleon waited for the perfect moment and struck the high ground and caught the enemy strung out in marching columns. He separated the Russo-Austrian army in half and then pivoted his centre troops southward to crush the remaining allied units, who were still fighting the French flank, who then fled across a frozen lake and a few hundred drowned when Napoleon fired his cannons, as the enemy was fleeing, not advancing as the clip shows. The scale is not done justice in these movies. I recommend looking up ‘war and peace 1967 battle scenes’ if you want to appreciate the scale. They used tens of thousands of extras in uniforms.

This feels like when the team historian explained Austerlitz to Ridley Scott all he understood was "Napoleon took the higher ground" lmfao

Historical inaccuracies aside, it’s worth seeing on the big screen for the battle scenes alone.

All the musics for the battle scenes were hauntingly beautiful

This was just truly Napoleon’s Masterpiece. He did great in his skill of trickery and deception, his nobility to the French will never be forgotten.

That’s a hot take in Austerlitz. It should be a fight for a hill which he intentionally let the Austrian control for most of the battle only taken it in the end.

0:09 - "Wait! Let them think they have the higher ground..."

(Obi-Wan Kenobi has entered the chat...)

No matter if this movie will be good or bad, nobody will ever beat Christian Clavier as Napoleon.

I see they are going for the destruction of all colour and adding a blue tint to everything to make this as confusing and unappealing as possible. Bold strategy.

Napoleon is often said to be short, only 5 feet 5 inches tall. but when he wore a general's hat his height rose 2 feet. Allied troops said that one Napoleon was equivalent to 40, 000 men

Wish he had a French accent but the battle scene looks epic

Even though it might not match the exact battle but I like how Ridley Scott imagined how the battle would have happened

"ICE! IT'S A TRAP!" -Random Austrian soldier.

This looks awful, Napoloenic battles were fought in disciplined formations performing complex manouvre, not this swirling chaos.
Napoleon firing at the ice at Austerlitz was a myth, why not show his true genius by showing how he picked the battlefield, how he gifted the high ground to the enemy and then set a trap for them to lure them off the high ground. Are you afraid it will go over the heads of your average dumb theatre goer?... therefore just give us explosions while we graze on popcorn
So incredibly sad what a waste.

This misbegotten venture will be Scott's own personal cinematic Waterloo. Phoenix, in just the few clips they have thrown out to the public in these past few months, has been described as looking like a narcoleptic employee hungover from a bad cosplay job at a Halloween mall outlet.

Guess it was too much to hope for that this movie would beat Waterloo but it seems Waterloo will remain the ultimate Napoleon movie.
