The UBS 5th Edition Greek New Testament

An overview of "The Greek New Testament, Fifth Revised Edition," by the United Bible Societies (commonly referred to as the UBS5). After a brief tour of the book, the video contains a discussion on how to use the textual apparatus. Textual variants in 1 Timothy 3.16 are examined (who was manifested, which was manifested, God was manifested). Then the video wraps up with a review of features that are new to the fifth edition.

In the video, I neglected to mention that the dictionary has also been improved. Words are cross referenced, and, for words that appear only once in the New Testament, the places they appear are listed (e.g., [Mt 15.39]).

Actually you can 'test' an hypothesis with other verses both in the immediate and extra contextual verses, at least on a theological level. To be sure, I used to be the advocate for 'the shorter reading', 'the more difficult phrasing', etc. But I believe it's a mistake to throw out any family of texts, even in other languages. There is always something they can contribute.. just wished I learned Coptic.
