HIGHLANDER Remake with Ryan Reynolds? - AMC Movie News

In a user-submitted question, we are asked if we think Ryan Reynolds is the right choice to star in the Highlander remake

the quickening is simply a disruption felt through quantum physics as the particles re align after beheading. the sword fighting exists as the timescale for their initial jump would be at a point here the most advanced weaponry at the time would have been blades. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I'm excited at the thought of a highlander reboot and I do think Reynolds needs a 'serious' stand alone part to cement his authority as a credible mainstream actor after Safehouse was a major hit for him. The problem will come if the script isn't believable. With questions still looming on Highlander such as 'what is the quickening' and 'the prize' will these be answered in this movie?

On a drunken chat with my girlfriend we came up with a sketchy plot for the movie. Conner starts off in the present working at CERN where he gets mixed up in the particle accelerator and gets scattered throughout time. in order to rectify the situation all particles have to reassemble into one host. this explains the need for there being only one and how they can recognise each others presence. the after death scenario is but a distant memory they all share.

Thomas Jane as Highlander, he looks like the Original Highlander.

I dont see the guy saying Ryan Renolds is a bad actor anywhere, he just said he doesnt think hes fit for that Role just like anyone else

If this remake is still going ahead, it'd have to BE a remake rather than a reboot. It'd HAVE to be Connor against The Kurgan. It just makes sense. They were mortal enemies Ramirez was killed. For Connor I'd throw in either Gerard Butler, Ewan McGregor or James Purefoy. All Scottish, all brilliant, and have experience with the swordplay genre. Antonio Banderas would make a good Ramirez methinks, but I'm basing that on accent and age. And I have no suggestions for Kurgan, so bring back CLANCY!

I think green lantern made pretty much the same or similar mistake to superman returns. It was overall not a bad movie AT ALL, but it's just the production from the very beginning had been wrong all along (wrong direction, wrong choices on the focus of the story, etc.) I think people always overstate the badness of a movie they don't like and the awesomeness of a movie they simply just really like.

My point is Reynolds doesnt look Scotish at all. He is not Connor McLeod.

I wanna see the remake because this material has potential. Hopefully it would also correct a lot of the mistakes those highlander movies made.

ya Butler or Tommy Flanagan from SOA, James McAvoy from X-men: First Class or Henry Ian Cusick from Lost! all would be a better choice

nathan fillion is the prime actor for any rounded character lead, but I suppose ryan reynolds isn't a bad choice.

agreed, ryan reynolds may have been in some bad movies, but that doesnt mean hes a bad actor. some people just cant see the difference....i dont think hes the best pick for highlander either.but u never know.

I agree, Reynolds just does not fit the part. As for Thomas Jane, well, if you were casting someone that resembles Christopher Lambert, maybe but you have to cast someone that could bring out the character of Connor McCloud not by just looks alone while at the same time having a similar storyline that made the movie a classic
