Angel Ubide, Citadel's head of economic research for fixed income and macro, is concerned that Europe isn't ready for the transition to a new world order very different than the one that prevailed for the past two decades. And a weakened Europe is bad for global stability, he tells Bloomberg's Sonali Basak.

Europe gave the thumbs up to detonate Nord Stream. Over an expanse war in Ukraine. What did you expect? Seriously.

I think the decline of Europe is visible in the last many decades. Such trend is gaining pace due to Covid-19, Ukraine war, Aging issue, the rise of Far Right, immigration integration, etc. It is a self-fulfilment prophercy. When people and investors see not much hope in EU's future, they withdraw themselves out of EU, leading to an even worse situation for EU... (and this cycle repeats indefinitely)

A weaker Europe means a cheaper travel destination albeit less interesting with the growing fatigue with the so called European culture and history, namely churches and museums.

Less Oligarchs Controlling Monopolies = "Weaker Europe"
Actually means more competition, more capitalism, more wealth in the hands of the poor who have options to boycott bad business practices.

Former European resident here and finance student here - I was pleased to hear his take as I’ve had the same opinion myself -

Now, It is clear most European countries outside the European Union understand they are better off as part of the European Union - Issue is, most of the countries are required to meet certain requirements in order to seek acceptance - For instance, a country seeking approval must meet basic infrastructure standards - More specifically, smaller countries government like Montenegro, for instance, simply doesn’t have funds to allocate towards such developments. (The funds they have are not enough to fuel faster infrastructure development. In other words, It would take them decades to meet the requirements by simply doing so alone).

Genuine question, is there any aid the European Union can provide to help promote sooner develop and speak up these approval processes? I think this would help their situations.

I think officials of the European Union should implement certain budget specially for the aid of underdeveloped countries whose economic data falls beneath a specific benchmark - Perhaps this would help create unity sooner.

Europe’s problem is not that it doesn’t have have big stodgy telecoms. Europe’s problem is that it has ridiculously high green energy prices and is too expensive and regulated for small businesses started by entrepreneurs. European government are repeating the mistakes of the past. They envy countries with big stodgy companies that are ripe for disruption. Will they ever learn?

Your explanations are clear and straightforward. It's always an honour to have you here as a mentor, I appreciate you for the time being spent to educate and update us financially. Regardless of how bad it gets the economy, I still make over $28K every single week. I truly value Lia Lorenzo and her helpful guides.

1:40 First Europe i.e. atleast the EU should have a common link language for important stuff like Government/administration, Judiciary, Jobs, Banking services, Income tax, etc. Maybe English. So if a Poland person lives in Germany he should be able to manage with English without knowing German language for the above mentioned stuff. Only for personal stuff like friendships, appreciating/understanding culture, etc one would have to learn German.

Maybe it means world war 3?

It’s always the easiest way for countries to focus on growth as last resort.

LOL China is the same as America being autonomous and closed is complete BS. US is almost energy free most of it's food production is in house or from Canada and most of it's economy is not export led unlike China.
Just energy alone China is completely different on America.

It just means less money, less wealthfare to USA, China. I don't really see upsides to a weak Europe exactly because of their trade position.
It could be a good thing, if Europe is threatening values like freedom of speech, to hold them accountable.
Other than that, it's not so much competing as contributing.
A lot of the global education and innovation comes from Europe, but they end up working in USA and China. I imagine that would remain the same pretty much.
