Sakha (formerly known as Yakutia) is the size of the European Union with a population of not even a million people most of whom living in the capital of Yakutsk. I have friends there who told me it's considerably more easy and faster to visit us in Berlin than visiting family living in the tundra further north - if there's a place where mammoths could get simply overlooked in the taiga then it has to be Sakha.

I would say the whole Death Worm situation in Ömnögovi kinda breaks down into two main views: "sshh, don't tell them, it's kinda funny" and "somebody should tell them". Basically, it's just a misunderstanding about snake folklore. The "death worm" is unambiguously a snake, and always has been. What's more interesting is the fact that folklore does preserve the "instant death" idea, while Mongolia is basically devoid of known lethal venomous snakes now. But we do have vipers here, and just from the way this story has always been used, it's hard not to see it as a story taught to children to protect them from messing with unknown, potentially venomous, snakes. Kinda like the whole razers in candy and "gum will stay in your system for 7 years". And I'm sure there's a lot of "don't do this, or you will immediately die" children stories wherever you live, even if they are not being recited in modern households because the parenting culture has evolved past that.

On less related note, if you want some deeper insight into some more Mongol/Buryat/Turkik cryptids from the general central Siberian region, and there are some you haven't mentioned, I would be happy to help with Buryat/Russian/Mongolian sources. Used to be into that.

Just on the local snowman lore I would be able to give you enough for an hour of video if you ever need a deeper dive.

If you ever cover soviet mysteries again, you should cover the sky jellyfish phenomenon over Petrozavodsk as it's pretty well documented and, in my opinion, very interesting.

I would love it if there is an as of yet undiscovered colony of woolly mammoths living somewhere in the wilderness of Siberia.

I always considered Boris Porschnev to be the spookiest cryptid.

Love your videos man you always find great topics. There is something so intriguing about large cryptids living in uninhabited areas. Keep up the great content!

My grandmother was 13 years old when she worked as a nanny in a settlement called Oskuy, in the Novgorod Oblast. This was before the war. I have to preface that everyone on my father's side of the family is very religious, honest, and transparent. Theyre incapable of lying, most of all my grandmother. She said that the locals claimed that every winter they were visited by a snowman. She witnessed this one year when everyone was on the 2nd floor. A big, ape-like beast with white fur and long arms would open up the windows and rummage around for food. She claimed that he was more animal than man but still seemed very intelligent. Neither she or anyone was scared of it. It just seemed like a normal part of life.

In Soviet Union cryptids look for you.

Another thing, this time about reports. If many descriptions closely match in detail, that still doesn't mean that the animal really exists. It could be simply a local legend people are repeating over and over again. For this reason there were countless sightings of supernatural beings (fairies for example) similar to one another in the past.

Soviet Union believe in giant worm? Are Soviets Fremen? Well I guess Joseph is Al Sai Gaib, because he’s from Georgia.

Hmm, regarding serpents in the waters near Antarctica, it would be very unlikely as reptiles generally like warmth.

There might be people out there who may not want us to believe in Cryptids also it would actually be cool to stellar see cow and an extinct bear turn out to still be alive. How do you think people are react to the Mongolian death, worm, being real
