In this video, we'll show you how to install wall panelling in your home. This is obviously a plastering channel but I'm quite excited to expand the range of our videos.

And I must admit that I loved creating wall panelling in my own home. It's good fun and it looks lovely when it's finished. And the best part is the fact that's it's actually very easy when you get into it.

You just need to know the RIGHT way to do it! That's what I'm going to share in this video.

Here's a good article that explains the process and also breaks down how to measure the distances between each panel. Hope it helps:

Lovely job Blaine. You seem to be able to turn your hand to most jobs! As a carpenter I get asked to do these quite often they are very popular. Plus I’ve done a couple at home. One tip to speed the process up is to cut 2 of the middle cross pieces at the start and use these to space out each of the uprights after getting the 1st one in level. That way you know the spacing will be exactly the same and no need to re measure each section. Just cut them all in one go and stick them on.. Hope that makes sense 👍

You honestly read my mind! I have nearly finished plastering the 2 main bedrooms and wanted to do this sort of panelling in the master.
Great video, thank you!

Looked good mate but a few heads up for u ( ur in my territory here) the window should have been framed around (as u suggested) even if it was smaller section timber and the right hand slope to ceiling it’s the way a Chippie would have done it around the window it would have prevented the end grain scenario (although I know uve used mdf here) it’s just good carpentry practice to finish it this way ( like u with the cleaning of ur plastered junctions wall to wall and wall to ceiling good practice ) that said u made a decent job of it it looked good

Good effort. I’m joiner by trade but do the plastering too for a while. Bought a house at 21 thinking yeah I can do it up. Wood chip everywhere apart from the windows. Soon discovered the paper held up the plaster. It soon went from stripping paper to hack off back to brick. Back then I was like what the hell am I going to do. Me dad used to be builders labourer/semi skilled. Long story short he did most of the plastering and had me mixing up and cleaning up after him I had a few tries with him holding my hand and made a right twat of it. Skip forward a few years working away on the joinery that dries up so decided to just be local. Doing this job n that job wood work new doors etc a plasterer cancelled on the customer small job dwarf walls in a porch and artex ceiling. The customer was really pissed off so I said I can do that to help you out if you’re not happy don’t pay. Did it and got paid. Since then built up massive confidence and do just plastering jobs. Sometimes different joiners follow me on with the second fix if that’s already been agreed. Cannot fault anyone who wants to learn and try at something new. I’m loving the Venetian videos too. A Jack of all is better than a master of one

The new hotmelt glues are a god send for this butt joints. Like Infinity PUR. The only way to minimize cracking and refilling/repaint over time. Same for skirting, door/window trims.

Amazing! – I had a hard time understanding you because of your accent but that's trivial, it was still amazing job!

Nice, I'd be inclined to measure whole wall width, do central upright then half it and half it again n so on. Really depends how things look and line up I suppose. Still this is very useful. Got my hall to cheers for the tips :)

Hi Blaine, as a beginner/ DIY plasterer, does applying a pva/ water mix to fresh plasterboard allow you more time to work the plaster. A non plasterer said it does but I was skeptical and thought it’s best to ask an expert.
As a joiner doing panelling, take your time with those corners and scribe them in whilst maintaining the level and treat yourself to a finish nailer pal😂

Great video. I am looking at doing this style of panelling in our dining room. But we are aiming to use MDF instead of timber. Can I use any standard filler for that ? Thanks!
