How tough is the new Gorilla Glass 5?

The weakness of glass has never been a direct hit to the flat part of the glass. It's the corners of the glass that's a problem. I want them to test dropping a phone on its corner because in real life you rarely see a phone hit flat on the floor.

They show off the same tests every year. The problem with each new version of GG is that even though they are getting stronger, the glass becomes thinner on the new phones so basically they are the same durability.

I've got gorrila glass 5 on my phone and so far so good! Not even the slightest scratch after 4 months off being in my pocket with keys and coins...

Both of my phone's screen, Redmi Note 9 & Samsung A23 5G, were shattered when I accidently dropped it onto rough tarmac from my pocket . Both aren't using screen protectors at that time . And yes, both of it were installed with Gorilla Glass 5 .

dropped my phone with this glass, not even 1 foot, but the floor a bit rocky. THE CLASS CRACKED asf.

Gorilla glass 5 is 3 steps less scratch resistant on a Mohs scale of hardness then gorilla glass 4 (even keys can easily scratch it). They probably added some plastic component which makes it harder to shatter, but easier to scratch. Watch JerryRigEverything video of note 7 where he test the gorilla glass 5.

GG3 survived 5years of abuse, GG4 shattered on first drop from chair! Let's hope GG5 gets the job done!
