I can't go karting without asking the staff if they're "using magnesium parts"...if they laugh you instantly know they also love this film

"so have a think, work out your priorities and get back to me".. Just brilliant.. I am going to use this line during every salary negotiation hahaha!

Such a small scene, but I love the development of the relationship between Niki and the mechanics. The workers are undoubtedly going to be aggravated at Niki (the boss), who makes them work hard till sunrise the next morning. However, after working so hard, they are ecstatic when they see the fruits of their labor, and they know their effort was worth it when they even doubted it ("no chance" "I don't know clay he just wants you to take it for a spin") and have a newly gained respect for Niki. In life, there is nothing more satisfying than a Job well done (in this case, 2.3 seconds a lap).

Niki Lauda was the simple the best driver to understand how to make a race car better. He was a trained pilot and had stuided aerospace engineering which obviously aided in his race car power train setups. But more than anything many past crew members entitled that Niki was the best at description of issues just by feeling the car and listening to it while racing.
I true throwback and deeply missed.
RIP Niki

4:50 ...at that moment, the mechanics respected him.

2.3 seconds is 2.3 light years in f1 racing. One might need equal amount of dollars in millions maybe billions in similar figures to make a car as fast 😉

I absolutely love the wave between he and his mechanics at the end knowing full well they couldn't divulge the info 😂

I love how the mechanics to start with are just ‘what did Niki say?’ as if mad that they are already bossed around by him. By the end they’re just ‘yep see on the track 👋’

I love this scene. It looks like it is 9:00am the next day. "Thank you, good night!" lol!

When you get a good team together, and both engineer and visionary are knowledge and push each other. When you get that *Spark*

Magic happens, fucking love it.

I would love to see Piquet's early F1 improvements in his cars too. Maybe that's why Piquet and Lauda always had good relation in Brabham.

I didn't realize Paul Ricard looked like Brands Hatch in the 1970s...

When I watched this movie the first time, I didn't know how massive of a difference 2 seconds were.

"Clay is a senior figure in Formula 1, you're just a rookie!"

Dude, Niki made his debut a year after Clay. What are you on about?

The only "senior figure" that this sport had to offer in 1973 was Graham fooking Hill, he was competing in his 16th season.

"Clay's a senior figure in Formula One, you're just a rookie!

Meanwhile, Graham Hill, who's been in Formula One 12 years longer than Clay has been at this point:👁👄👁

I ripped out my cup holders and replaced with magnesium units. Car 'feels' quicker.

It interests me they use magnesium parts as a catchall to show Lauda's engineering brilliance when magnesium was extremely short lived as a material because it was so damn volatile
