Very informative. Very clear. The only issue I have is using shears to crimp the shield clamp. That's just not right. You are dulling you shears and on slip and you can damage/cut the cable which would put you back to square one.

Let's talk about drain vs. ground. The shielding is to harness EMI which the drain will direct away, but not to electrical ground. Electrical ground is for over current/ short circuit currents. A drain is a different electrical point all together. The drain generally is a null location on a circuit board, which attempts to minimize interference with the signal on the twisted pair. The twisting of the pairs minimizes cross talk, tighter the twist the higher the category of protection.
