KSGER T12 Soldering Station - teardown and review

A review and teardown of the inexpensive soldering station compatible with the Hakko T12 tips sent to me for free by KSGER.

The cheapest, blue iron handle does not get warm at all. It my prefered iron holder for this station.

This seems to be an 80w iron like the TS-80. It seems to use similar tips, so it should be similar performance. This has a case and plugs straight into the wall, the TS-80 has open source firmware, but needs a separate power supply. Seems ok for the price. I think you can plug in different handles that take the same tip, that connector is very common. Maybe that would fix the handle heating up.

Hi. It's also one of my favorite tools (along with the first all metal digital caliper by General). I just had my T12 a few days ago, it has the 2.12 firmware. The rebranded Quicko is about 100% cheaper than the KSGER one but it only comes in the MINI which can be great durability but maybe not for looking good or stacking. The Quicko one is just US$22, shipped and comes with the blue and yellow, comics X-Men iron:-) )

Someday, when I have more budget, I'll sell, donate or giveaway my Quick 858D and T12 and get the very cool KSGER 2 in 1 combo unit with the black and chrome metal iron:-)

Does the fact that the wire is not attached inside the handle other than by it's solder connections not scare anyone?

Or is it attached better, but I couldn't see in the video?

Interesting review.
Actually, the price of the tips was to me a "pro" when selecting this station (I bought it a couple months ago), compared to the price of the TS-100 and TS-80 tips. Original Hakko tips are a bit expensive, but the Chinese clones are dirt cheap at around $4. Surprisingly, they are really well made.
There is even an Eagle schematic file of the board
