Remember folks, perpetual motion is impossible. Just because someone sticks "Quantum" in front of it, you don't magically get free energy.

While it may well be theoretically possible to create a closed loop system that never gives up its energy, it will be of no use to you because that means your phone cannot have things like a screen or speakers because the light or sound needs energy and that energy needs to come from somewhere and if it pulls energy from your 'quantum' battery, then it's no longer a closed loop system.

Hmm, sounds like it could extend battery life, but I doubt it could make it last "almost indefinitely". Because if it relies on a closed system to continuously recharge itself... The light from the screen would be leaking energy, sending out a phone signal uses energy, and connecting to wifi siphons energy. So while I applaud them for making batteries more efficient, calling them "The Next Step Towards Perpetual Motion Machines" seems excessive.

For a phone or a car to move/shine it’s going to exert some sort of energy into influencing its environment, like sending of light rays into your eyes or sound waves into your ear? This seems like something you’d come up in 2nd grade, at best it’ll be a normal battery but without a expectation date
