I would want to go for the N64 version of
The World is Not Enough.

Although the N64 version is on a measley 32mb cartridge it features more than 500 lines of dialogue using Factor 5 compression technology, it has more levels and multiplayer.

The PS1 version has the FMVs but much less dialogue even though it's on a disc. The Matrix stuntman was hired to serve as mocap for the 300 animations . Both games were developed according to its console's strength's

I only ever played the N64 version, and it was a blast. The N64 was such a great console. I really miss the old days of old school boxy graphics 😔

The n64 game almost looks a full gen better than the ps1 game. Holy hell.

N64 really pushed the limits considering the limited cartridge data memory, plus it had multiplayer like GoldenEye 007.

Did you know that the PS1 version was gonna have a remaster for PS2 (Same game updated graohics and audio) They started development of this and actually worked on it but they decided to change this remaster into Agent Under Fire.
I knew a developer who told ne it would of been the exact same game just updated so same layout levels ETC and some of the textures made it to Agent Under Fire this is alao why the soundtrack is mostly the same but updated.

As for which version is better its definitely N64

It's crazy how different console versions of games were basically totally different games back then. Just look at the different versions of Sarge's Heroes as well. Now they're all just direct ports of each other, which makes more sense.

I think the biggest take away from this is that the 64 port tried to stay within the realms of of Goldeneye While the PS1 port is basically the previous game (Tomorrow Never Dies) only in First person. Which makes sense because they shared the same developers.

After playing both games back to back last year, i think the N64 is the better game by a lot, better controls, the game feels more complete with longer levels, the ps1 version has the plus of having FMV taken directly from the movie but the levels are really short, you can take less than five minutes to finish in some of them, areas are smaller and doesn't use the Dual Shock for a better control, you have to stick with the d-pad and should buttons to aim and move, keep in mind that the ps1 version came out a year after the original Medal of Honor and that game fully use the DualShock (even having an option to use a control scheme similar to what is used today making it easier to replay now days aside the graphics)

Is the N64 version using the expansion pak? With the expansion pak the N64 version renders in high color depth (may be 24bit color) and the textures also get improved. It will be nice a comparisson with and without expansion pak.

The N64 can render more 3D objects at same time and has basically instantaneous loading due to the cartridges its slow here due to the audio compression while the PS1 has far more memory space on the disc which gives them space for video files and more amounts of audio files the downside is PS1 has slow loading and can’t render large amount of 3D at the same time. (It’s why every PS1 game with large open world has lots of Fog to block view distance or fixed camera angles)

Normally I’d say the N64 version is far superior because of the multiplayer, but these are two different games that are worth trying.

ahhh this game. 0:45 in and the receptionist on ps1 looks like she wants to jump on it, the n64 looks like she wants to have the grandkids over for the weekend.. still though the n64 had a feeling with the controls that ps1 (at times) just lacked or felt off.

Played both when they dropped the n64 was literally Goldeneye 2 where as PS1 felt like a FPS that was redone as a 007 game

When I was a kid, I had an N64 (purchased in 2000), while most of my cousins had PS1. I remember first playing this game at my cousins' house who had an N64. They inspired me to get the N64, and I had a lot of great memories from it over the years, all the way back to Mario 64/Ocarina, before getting it myself. When I went to another cousin's house who had a PS1, he was excited to show me that HE TOO had The World Is Not Enough! He played it (no multiplayer), and I was confused why it looked so different. That said, he had far more games than me with far more variety and with pre-rendered cutscenes. I loved having the access to a variety of games from both, but this was the game that convinced me the N64 had better graphics overall.

I remember having both as a kid and the PS1 version was a total letdown vs the N64, it was cool to have the movie scenes in the PS1 version but thats about it.

PS1 version is just the diet version of the N64 version.

The N64 version felt more interactive and had better cinematics. Also The Ski level was fun, you felt like you were being chased by terrorists from the movie. Eliminating Davidov felt more true than the PS1 version, You had a boss fight in a small garage where in the N64 version, you were actually someone at the right location true to the movie aswell as the many ways to assassinate him as he is walking through the dark forrest. ALsoo the N64 version had way better non-earrapy music and sound effects. Yeah the N64 version is the clear winner.
