IFLScience sat down with legendary Queen guitarist and astronomer Sir Dr Brian May, and Prof. Dante Lauretta, principal investigator of NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission. We discussed their new book, Bennu 3-D, about the asteroid visited by the spacecraft. We also talked about Dr May's passion for stereoscopy and how it was instrumental in helping the team analyse the surface of this asteroid, and pick the best landing site for the sample retrieval mission.

You can buy their book here and experience the 3-D wonders for yourself:

I sent a link to this video to a friend who was a Chemistry / Music double major. Science and Music. I'm guessing for him this would be absolute pure joy.

This is absolutely amazing and I didn't know Dr.Brian May had such a large hand in this project, and a book too! I now know what's gonna be on my Christmas list! Thank you Brian for your expertise on this very important mission. Something tells me this is the first of many more breakthroughs for you! 👑💙🎸

This is a tremendous way to spend 8 minutes and 21 seconds. By coincidence, the same length as the song "The prophet's song" - composed by Sir Brian.

My congratulations to Sir Brian for his collaboration with the OSIRIS-REX MISSION, for this incredible 3-D Bennu and to Professor Dante Lauretta for the University of Arizona.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF THEM. 👍👏🪨☄️📸📸
