1. Walk, don't run in an urban surrounding (maybe look at your cell phone)
2. Look non-tactical. Don't look threatening to anyone.
3. Don't create any stimulus in anyone. Don't wear anything that's out of place or too colorful. Don't wear logos that will make people like or dislike you.
4. Be in character. Think if it as a disguise.
5. Don't make yourself look weak.
6. Keep quiet about your bug-out or bug-in plans.
7. At home grey man skills. Be discrete when buying big or expensive things.
8. Be aware of the noise you make.
9. Keep your scent under control. People will remember you buy a scent.
10. Personal security. Take notice of things, like exits or entrances, or places to hide.
11. Not too fast, not too slow.
12. Pretending to be supposed to be there. Act and think like a local. Adjust your clothing, your behavior, ...
13. Strategic avoidance. Don't put yourself into unnecessary danger or confrontation.

So I retired 10 years ago, I have not renewed my drivers license in 6 years, have not filed taxes in 10 years, I don’t draw any SS or other government money. I live on a sailboat and spend most of my time running from the weather, I carry 3 passports, my US has expired. My boat is over 30 years old, but I keep it up with the latest technology. I work as a cook, a barber and a musician. I speak English Spanish and French. I am not a criminal and am not wanted by any government. I will be in Quartzsite, AZ by January 15 for a Rendezvous with friends. I keep an old RV there in town with friends that has an antique car tag. I don’t do any drugs, or have any tattoos to give me away. I went through a divorce in 1992 and took on this lifestyle as a joke, boy has it been fun. 🤷🇧🇸👍🤨

This is in my opinion, the best description on this subject I've come across yet. I special like the fact that they don't focus on the Tactical gear and uniform / costuming that many espouse to. My father, a veteran of two Wars and one time Undercover cop, often discussed these things whenever we were out and about in downtown St Louis, especially that of walking on the outside of the sidewalks and using the storefront windows as mirrors across the street to see what was the head and what was behind you and to avoid the recessed doorways and alleyways....

Avoid eye contact (tip from homeless people) (you say to pretend to look on your phone)
give space to others (tip from securety people - The one who acts diferently than others AND take extra space form others, watch that one)
check periodically but not too frequently who is walking behind you (tip from bodygards)
avoid conflict (you say that too)
Act and look like the people around you (you say that too)
New to me : move a little bit slower than the crowd so as not to walk next to the same people all the time.

One thing that is also good to practice is being polite. Yes sir, no mam, please and thank you will go a long way. Politeness will help put people a little more at ease. Not overdoing it, just basic. In these days where you may counter civil unrest it would be prudent to have something defensive on you. Mace, pepper spray, a knife or if you feel comfortable a concealed firearm. Good video though.

Kind of being at peace with yourself or emotionally calm...creates less reason for anyone to notice....this is quite a skill to learn n requires a fair bit of practise and self control...

#12 can't be stressed enough. I worked, past tense, in HUMINT for the army so I naturally try to blend in and not stand out. In Russia, personal trip, this worked near perfect as my features matched the Russian people to where no one knew I was American until I opened my mouth. My 12 years in Vietnam, teaching ESL, you would think would be a complete failure. It was not easy, but I still dressed and acted the part right down to my motorbike. Nothing flashy just a common Honda Airblade that was 11 years old. Several times I had Vietnamese pull next to me on the street and ramble something that I can only guess was asking directions in Vietnamese thinking I was Vietnamese. As well many times when the traffic police would stop me they would not realize I was American until I took off my sunglasses. So if done right you can still marginally blend in even as a black sheep. Cultural Capital as well is a good concept to understand as well for movement through class structures.

This is the first grey man video I've seen. I have heard about it before but didn't know what is involved. Thank you for bringing this information to everyone.

Do NOT bury your head in your phone. You will have no situational awareness! Keep your eyes and ears scanning. your cell out but only as a prop.

I’ve been in a gray man ever since I was pretty young. And I’ll tell you the one thing that you didn’t mention is the one thing that makes a natural gray man. Everything you mentioned is great things to practice, but someone needs a firsthand visual or a first-hand account of some sort of certain, perhaps nefarious acts. The more things you see that most would call jaw-dropping, the more desensitized you get.You get desensitized, but you also learn to predict these things. The desensitization is vital for when you’re out scavenging, if you see somebody having something terrible done to them and you don’t want to interfere, I hope you’re used to seeing something like that or else you might react in a way that gets you killed.

Wear headphones with wires. Strangers that try to engage can simply be ignored and they believe you simply did not hear them. You are just a guy walking around listening to music.

I live on the edge of a bad neighborhood. ANYONE wearing a hoodie makes us all aware and pay attention !! It's a senior area and a hoodie is a sure way to get people's eyes watching you.

How about not wearing black, for starters. Earth tones, along with Jean's, cargo shorts, or whatever everyone else is wearing.
