Nothing put on and fake from Ian.
Just an absolute original.
So glad I grew up when I did

One of the best composers of the XXth Century, with beatiful songs and fabulous lyrics. A 'living legend' as a flute player... with his unbelievable technique of singing the flute lines while blowing/ playing his flute!! Very, very difficul to be done. One of the most incredible 'presence' on stage: by odd movements, dances and facial expressions...
This presentation shows less than 10% of how great he was. Nevertheless it's a honour to have an opportunity to watch this video.

I saw Tull at Madison Square Garden Twice. Songs From the Wood tour in 1977. The opening band was Jonathan Livingston Seagul. A fictional band A guy Came out sang 3 notes then Ian came out alone and opened with Wondering Aloud. Barimore Barlow and Martin Barre Clive Bunker and Ian and they played for 3 hrs.

The genious Ian as always playing his costumed acoustic guitar.
In 1977 I was in Palais des Congrès and it was a fantastic concert.❤

This is a really unique version of Aqualung.
Ian's vocals come off really different here, his voice is more talking than singing, but very dramatic, moving, poetic. I like it!

Ian Anderson is a genius both at both composition and performance. Never will a studio album prepare you for what they will do in a concert; the entire band are talented artists and performers, and don't expect them to do the same thing on different stops in the same tour either. Their talent at changing pace, key, and tempo is awesome; hard progressive rock to a gentle ballad in an eye-blink with no one missing a cue. My fandom goes all the way back to 1970, and I've been fortunate to see Jethro Tull in live performances around 8-10 times now. Ian's flute solos are always a joy, the flutter tonguing and singing trough the flute are without equal.

The best lead Martin has pulled off of Aqualung EVER. Gave me goose bumps. And KUDOS to Noyce. This song has always had more bite, when played live. I would put Barre up against anyone, and Perry is incredible on drums.
