After learning a lot from my previous two playthroughs, and finding the game just amazingly fun, we're embarking on our third journey in the galaxy! The goal is to get further than system 6 this time, with a focus on optimising our ship, both in terms of area, energy usage, travel distances and room proximities. This Let's Play was started with the space station start, and I started with 6 crew members, building my ship totally from scratch, which was a very fun and different experience that I highly recommend!

As usual, our crew will be some our named friends, with some additional members having joined this time, which should add to the amusement and fun of the series!

A huge thank you to Bugbyte Ltd. for granting me a free press key to the game!

So, Caledorn shows you here how to not invade a pirate ship. Standard pin and flank methods do promote success. One squad can attract attention from behind equipment, while the others moves in from the side and gets them from the side. Pirates do clump up at doorways like this which is good shotgun defense from through the door, but not to a squad from the side.
Starting as far away as he did gave his squads no cover (indestructible storage etc). Rarely pirates can be in that rear bay and get a couple surrenders if you have to move in to see who is shooting. And I think 12 is my highest pirate crew, so going with 8 means you must have good tactics to win. Pirates have home turf advantage so you have to be tactical to best them with smaller numbers.
