Kuwait was a small province of Iraq which was not independent of Iraq 40 years earlier. The British gave that part of their Iraqi colony away without consultation or proper consent of the Iraqi people at that time. Iraq was just trying to recover it's own unfairly lost territory's!

Once that war was over with no result but devastation of both countries he turned his rage on just these two manipulative countries. His attacks on Israel was just an attempt to win the support of the Arab world which only turned out to be his lethal mistake. He was eventually executed not for the chemical attack on civilian Kurds or punishment of Shi'a minority but because of his attack on Israel but also mainly for George Bush's personal vendetta for Saddam's will to assassin his father the George Bush senior.

Sadam attacked Israel to provoke them to fight and if they did he knew the Muslim countries that had sided with America would back out not wanting to fight along side Israel. That’s why the US didn’t want Israel involved they needed the aid of those Muslim countries

Most of the injuries were of people falling while trying to get to a safe zone and the 2 people were killed because in the begining everyone thought that the balistic missles will cary chemical weapones so the orders for civilians were to evacuate to high areas
