Today, the guys and I walk around the damage that happened to my house after the devastating Hurricane Milton, a category 5 hurricane that made landfall in Florida and devastated homes and cost many their lives. I was lucky. Many were not so lucky.

The good news is that Freddy has SOOO much experience working with flooded electricals. You have been training for this moment.

Outdoor breaker boxes in a nearly tropical environment confuse me. Love that you guys are clearly true friends!

Just so you know, that big tank is called a bladder tank. The air in the tank is what gives your water the pressure it needs to go through the pipes. Draining enough air would lower your water pressure, and adding air would raise the water pressure. There is a rubber membrane inside the tank to separate the water from the air. I'm not trying to be hateful; I'm just informing you from years of working on well pumps.

I live in Punta Gorda, FL. Hurricane Charley (cat 5) cleared out anything prone to wind damage 20 years ago. But we got hit HARD with storm surge (rising sea water). My house was fine, but some of my neighbors had 2 feet of water in their houses from Helene 2 weeks ago. The they had 4 feet of water in their homes from Milton. Most of them had debris out on front of their house from Helene which still hadn't been hauled away. Lots of people hurting on the west coast.

Blows my mind the way everything electrical in Florida just seems to be sitting out side in the salt air.

The “underground” shelter absolutely COULD fill up with water especially during a hurricane lol

Freddy, I have a well and it sounds to me like you have a bad motor start capacitor. They give the pump motor a boost to get it started and they tend to dry out over time or if they get wet or hit with a surge as power flashes they will blow out. Get a cheap capacitance meter on Amz and you can test them. I note the capacitor ratings for all of my equipment (AC units, well pump, pool pump, etc.) and keep a set of spares on hand. A motor that just hums and doesn't run has a bad capacitor more often than not. It may also be a good idea to check/replace your pressure switch and contactor relay as they both spark a tiny bit each time the pump kicks on/off and eventually build up carbon on the contacts. You can clean them too, but they seem to oxidize faster once you do, so that's usually only helpful when you need to get it going to get by until you can replace it.

Hope this helps! I bought my house 15 years ago and my first 4th of July party I had the capacitor on my pump shut the water off just before 50+ people were due to arrive. A neighbor had an old well controller in his shed with a good capacitor and it got me going just as people were pulling in. 50 people without a way to flush the toilets would have been rough!

Why does Freddy’s house look like it’s one of those old abandoned exhibits from Jurassic World

As a well engineer over in the UK that tank is a pressure vessel / accumulator.
The air sits on the outside between the metal and a rubber bladder, the water then is then pushed into the rubber bladder and is controlled by a pressure switch

We need a pause on the super cars and we need a full dive into rebuilding this house and seeing jack paint a room ;) haha but a house rebuilding/upgrade would be very fun to watch

As a guy from Florida I look at the beginning of the video and just see projectiles sitting on his porch or backyard, those decorations should be the first to be picked up

I'm from Malaysia and the weather here is very, very tropical. Seeing the outside breaker box "exposed" like that is kinda crazy 😅. We never see that here. Glad you and your house is safe Freddy!

You do not wanna let the air out of water tank. The tank only partially fills full of water and there is an air bladder inside that makes the pressure to push the water through the pipes.

Does every youtuber live in FL?! Damn. Glad all 1000 YouTubers are ok!

Maybe get the bunker cleared and have colin furze come and dig a tunnel to it from the house so you have a secondary safe shelter for the next storm.

Glad to see that you and everyone else is alright which is all that matters! Hopefully your shop is in good shape and wasn’t hit as hard either!
