The lines were brilliant. “I’m sorry if I have ever made you feel you cannot tell me that..” is one thing every person struggling to come out wants to hear from anyone.

This scene was so important for peopl who identify as Bi and for all LGBTIQ+ people coming out and for how parents should respond.

What I love most about Nicks coming out is that he started the conversation saying Charlie's his boyfriend instead of starting with saying he's bisexual. Because when I think about when I have kids, regardless of their gender, I want them to come home a just say mom I have a boyfriend/girlfriend and not feel they have explain their sexuality to me. This is something I feel should be more normalized and I hope the day comes where people can just say their in a relationship.

I love Olivia Colman so much, but I had been wondering why she was in the show as she had little to nothing to do. But then this scene in the finale came round and it all made sense. She's such an incredible actress that can convey so much without even saying a word. This was such a beautiful coming out scene that really got me choked up tbh lol

This. This is how parents should react.
"I'm sorry if I ever made you feel like you couldn't tell me" made me tear up

In the bloopers, Olivia forgot her line because she was caught up looking at Kit's 'little face'. Totally do not blame her, I can only imagine what it was like to see in real life, it was more than enough coming through a screen - the acting in this whole scene from both of them is off the charts

This is such a sweet moment, I love how she reassures him that he doesn't have to pretend to like girls, but can if he does. Also, she says in an earlier scene she calls charlie his 'special friend', suggesting she sort of already knew how he felt about charlie.

To think: There are actual “parents” out there who FAIL at their role by reacting hysterically or cruelly by rejecting, disparaging, or disowning their gay child while conveniently citing pointless religious edicts. This scene is beautifully and delicately presented. “Heartstopper” is an absolute gem of a show.

this is literally the perfect example of how a parent should react to their kid coming out. really wish my mom said those things.

I love how in an outtake for this scene, Olivia is actually so overwhelmed she forgets her line, I can't say I blame her. haha

omg I love this series it's 40 years too late for me but I'm so glad it exists for the younger LGBT+ community now, it's as if we still need permission to come out and the existence of this series makes a huge difference to those grappling with their sexuality and coming out ❤

Nick's bated breath and stress make this scene feel so authentic. It takes me back to my coming out to my parents. Kit portrayed it so amazingly well.

I absolutely love this scene with Nick and his mom...it's the just the way that it should be when a child tells their parent they're gay, bisexual or trans. And such wonderful characters and actors. Heartstopper has stolen my heart. I am such a fan!!

I have watched this scene over and over. I am 65 and have been blessed to be with my partner -- now husband -- for 37½ years. How different growing up gay would have been if a show like this existed in the 1960s-70s.

About the acting: of course, Olivia Coleman is beyond genius. The woman is a master class in acting in just one scene. But can we talk for a moment about Kit Connor's acting? The fact that he can barely breathe as he stumbles out the words rang SO TRUE -- I totally remember that tight-chest, almost breathless anxiety as I told each of my parents. I was fortunate -- while they were not as perfect as Olivia Coleman, they did very well. But this is such a powerful reminder that however much the "macro-world" has changed, LGBTQ young people don't live in that world. They each live in their own micro-world, and it's still terrifying to tell your truth to your parents, your friends and schoolmates, and your extended family and community.

The amazement of this show is that every moment with every character rings true. How the Brits pull that off -- talk about these issues without over-processing them or being overly pedantic and preachy. They let the characters tell their stories and show their lives, and that is everything. My husband and I have watched this show through twice already -- with tears more times than I can count -- and I have no doubt we will again.

SO. WELL.

This is by far my favorite scene in the entire 1st season and here's why: the subtle nuances in kits facial expressions. Just based off his expressions and the hitches in his voice you can tell what emotion he's feeling. When he says "we're going out" his eyes light up, his face brightens and he seems excited, but only for a split second when he remembers he's telling his mum and he's scared. Then when he says "I just wanted you to know" you can hear the hitch in his voice, from the nerves and the fear of not knowing what to expect from his mom. He's done so much research and most likely has heard of parents disowning their children for coming out so he's scared but he still wants to tell her because he's just so happy to finally truly be himself and he's willing to take that risk. You can see it all in those two lines and it's just wonderful. Kit is an amazing actor and he's going to go on to do great things after this show.

I watched this show right after being forced to come out and admit my relationship with a girl to my parents, who ensured I could never see her again and outed me to everyone in our family. This scene is what I wanted, and what my kids will someday have if they ever need it. Thank you God for Olivia and Kit for this scene, I cried for like an hour.

I'm in love with this scene. Right in the fucking feels. The whole show is like this. Conflict but no drama. Pure, respectful interactions. Teenagers without all the crap added. It's just so soulful.

This is honestly the most beautiful coming out scene I've ever seen and I watch it repeatedly. I wish that it had been this easy for everyone, including me.
