Toxic positivity is also expecting that all mental illnesses are curable and you can live a normal happy life if you choose happiness despite the fact that so many mental illnesses are incurable and you can only really learn to cope with it better and medicate to balance chemicals as much as possible

It always has- simplified either a group or person wants positive so they look at things through rose-colored glasses. It is worse now, people want "normal" and "good": and any form of that during current fears is accepted merely because it looks as if it is. Including how feelings and thoughts are affected by the disconnect and distrust which appears to be normal are accepted because that is 'what is allowed'.
