-------------------------------------------------
This new generation Kobalt 1/2-inch Mid-Torque Impact Wrench claims up to 500 ft-lb fastening and up to 650 ft-lb of nut-busting torque. This new impact wrench is more compact in size, as are many of the new tools in the Gen 3 Kobalt line. The newly designed grip with soft overmold is very comfortable and has just the right angle for a good grip.

Mid-Torque Impact Wrenches work awesome in the Automotive /Mechanics space. The new Kobalt has a few modes to help you if you like to let the tool do the "work". The hand-tight mode shuts the tool off at different levels on settings 1 to 3. This can help in tightening lugs, but you need to know what setting will do what! Hand tight does not mean hand tight in this case. Auto Slow mode allows the tool to loosen nuts at high torque level and then once the nut is loosened, the RPMs automatically slow down. This can be helpful to some.

The Kobalt impact wrench also features 3 speed/torque settings which can be easily selected using the electronic push button. Setting 3 delivers up to 650 ft-lb loosening torque and up to 500 ft-lb fastening torque. With the battery installed the impact wrench comes in at 6.1 lb.

At $229 dollars, you get a lot of bang for your buck. With the cost of many things going up, this is one tool that seems to deliver a good value, great specs, and decent quality at a good price.

I bought them as soon as they were available. Impressed so far with the value.

This video helped me make up my mind. I got this one at Lowe’s a few weeks ago and finally got to use it to change the rear struts on my wife’s SUV. Wow! I’ve never used an impact wrench, so this is just one experience with one tool, but WOW! I couldn’t have gotten this job done without it! Such a powerful tool for $150! I think the sale ends Jan 25th 2024, so there is still time if you want a great deal!

I’ve had this one for 2 years and it’s been great.

Kobalt is so underrated. Right there with Metabo HPT in being under respected. Both make fantastic tools. And in Kobalt Land, the batteries are a steal. They manage to pack in an extra 6th cell of the same Samsung cells and price them cheaper than anyone else. Something else to consider, all of their batteries are cased in a GF20/30 Case, as opposed to a PC-ABS case like everyone else. Dewalt & Milwaukee recently have released their "Oil Resistant" batteries and both charge a premium for this option that Kobalt includes on all their batteries. This is a nice looking Middie. If I didn't already have that Metabo HPT, I'd be looking at this hard. But "GO GREEN" for me ;)

Lowes has these on sale for $149. I'm picking one up tomorrow. Thanks for the video

Good tool. It certainly helped me take off the rusty leaf springs on my boat trailer. Copious amounts of PB Blaster, Heat, 4'' Angle Grinder, Sawzall, and a 2lb Hammer helped too.

The rusty fasteners were put on 21 years ago.

Well worth the money. Go ahead and pick up an extra battery while you are at Lowe’s.

I've used this kobalt mid torque impact wrench on lug nuts and axle nuts. Works great, feels great too and $150 for the kit is impressive value.

Thank you for testing out the kobalt. It has enough torque for my own diy 👍🏽

I just picked one up at Lowe’s. It was originally $199.99 and on sale for $149.99. It’s box was dented on the battery/charger side and was marked down to $120. I took it to the store manager and said I have been eyeing it since right after Black Friday. Was concerned about the box, so he said how about $100? Merry Christmas to me. $99.99 is the sale price for the 1/4” impact wrench.

Just bought this one the KIW 4024A-03 kit on the Lowes sale, only $149 now until July 24th ($80 off). This will be replacing my weak little Ryobi P261 that I keep in the trunk for emergencies.

Has anyone used this on a regular basis? Is it any good? It has a good warranty, and I’m debating between a few of the mid torque impact wrenches.
The Metabo and Makita are quite a bit more expensive.

I have the XTR line of tools but the non xtr seem weak to me.

On the Cobalt where you was trying to take it off the tractor with setting that you have it on you didn't mention it

I’d like to see him tackle that bolt with a UO battery I’m sure it can break away 350 ftlbs 21700 cells I think it could do it

Damn try the metabo on the other bolt without cranking the kobalt on it first

Awesome video Brian. I think kobalt is a good brand. But I am still waiting to get my hands on that metabo

It’s a very good solid first effort by Kobalt. Beating the Milwaukee and coming behind the second and third place Makita and Metabo is an awesome feat!

This is meant to compete against the Ridgid and Ryobi p262 and I think it crushed those guys!

That one you have is rated at 150 ft lbs. You are giving specs on the bigger 1/2 in impact. This is the compact version. I have the bigger one and it is a beast, actually got ran over by a 2500hd with a loaded utility bed and I still use it to this day.

What’s your thoughts on this item vs the dewalt DCF921? Both on sale right now. All my other tools are dewalt 20v so would be nice to stay in the eco system but I work on my personal and family cars. Afraid the 921 won’t have the beans. Afraid the kobalt won’t fit into the tight places. I don’t do enough to buy both. I’m torn
