Story line:
" Brian and I walked for a long time through the snowy deserted forest. Everything around was white, the branches of tall pines and the mountain peaks in the distance were completely covered with snow. The blizzard did not stop, and became stronger every hour. A lot of snow fell, it was difficult to walk, and in some places my legs sank up to my knees. The heavy backpack on my back did not give me the opportunity to relax. He always reminded me that you can’t stop and you need to keep going. The village was about 2 miles away, which made us happy. We had no idea where we would stop for the night, but we knew for sure that the village was our salvation at that moment. I walked and thought how we managed to stray from the tourist route and fall behind the group. After all, we have been on similar trips more than 20 times before. This thought haunted me. But now it was not important, the main thing was to get to the village and find shelter. Looking at Brian, I saw that he was also very tired, but he continued walking. Today we walked about 10 miles with him in difficult conditions. We had no communications, only a compass, maps, and a small radio. A couple of hours later, in the distance, I saw a burning light from small wooden houses, and shouted with joy: “Yes, finally, Brian!!! We’ve reached it, this is a village!” Brian was also incredibly happy about this, and fell into the snow with joy and began fooling around like a child. Entering the village, we approached the first house, knocked once, then knocked again and again, but no one opened the door for us. Then we went to the next house, but the same thing happened there; the door was not opened for us. And the same thing happened in the next 6 houses. Approaching the seventh house, which looked more like a small hut, we knocked on the door again. We noticed that the lights were on in the windows, which means the owners must be at home. We knocked again, and suddenly the door opened on its own. Then a rough male voice sounded from behind the door: “Well, why are you standing there, come into the house. Who are you and what brings you here.” We stood on the threshold and did not see the owner of the house, since it was dark inside, only the light from the burning fireplace shrouded the room in mystery. It was a little scary, but we had no choice. I decided to take a few steps forward and go inside, and Brian did the same. I saw a man sitting on a chair near the fireplace, his face was not visible. But when he took the kerosene lamp in his hand, the light fell on his face. After that, Brian and I froze and couldn’t say a word. " To be continued...
