What Direction Should My Ceiling Fan Run in the SUMMER?

preview_player
Показать описание
A lower electric bill can start with a ceiling fan. BUT, that ceiling fan must be running in the right direction.

This video demonstrates the correct direction for ceiling fans in summer, common problems with ceiling fan direction, and how to check your ceiling fan is running in the right direction for maximum cooling in summer.

What if the ceiling fan is wired incorrectly? What if you ceiling fan switch is side-to-side instead of up and down? We've got you covered.

Would have been nice to have been shown the direction for summer/winter. Looking up at it looks like clockwise for winter ??

Why didn't he just show us which way the blades should be turning?

Clockwise vs. counterclockwise doesn't really work for communicating this, both because it depends on how the blades are angled and because it depends on whether you're looking at the fan from below or from above.

If you want the air blowing downward, the fan needs to turn so that the leading edges of the blades are above and the trailing edges are below.

If it's a vertical a fan and you're facing it with the air blowing onto you, the leading edges of the blades are behind and the trailing edges are in front. (If the blades are curved, you can see this more easily by looking at them edge on.)

So, the leading edges of the fan blades are tilted in the direction opposite the direction in which the air blows.

The diagram with the arrows needs fixing.

Thanks for setting this straight.. 😅as we have doing it the opposite way.

I have watched videos about switching the fan of directions of the van, but no one ever said it and described it the way you have about going up or down and why we’re going up and down or side to side right meaning?

I’ve always wondered at what outside temp should you turn the fan on. If you keep it 72 inside would it be 50? 40? 30? 🤔🤔🤔

Is it clockwise or counter clockwise in summeR

Too many sensitive comments. If the wind isn't blowing down (summer) then, flick the switch.
If you have a "hugger" fan (close to a low ceiling), I find it works best to leave it in "upward" blowing mode to disperse the ceiling heat better.

Did you get all scientific with this but you don't even say which way the blade should be spinning

not a very good guide. have just had us look at the fan blade diagonal, and show examples of each movement (clockwise or counter clockwise) - showing it "cut and push air down" with blades faced like \ you want it counter-clockwise. if your blades for some reason face / it would be the opposite effect. (counter-clockwise would scoop air up, the desired effect in colder seasons) the whole 'up down' and 'feel' doesn't make sense as people will all have different opinions on it, and even placebo effect on 'feeling' airflow.

My fan works with a remote up down left right is meaningless. Very disappointing

It be a lot easier if you just said clockwise or counterclockwise

If Hunter fan representative ever reads these comments, I have to say putting the switch to reverse the blades on top of the motor is lousy placement I say this as a 75-year-old woman with vaulted ceilings who had to climb a ladder repeatedly to clean the blades, then the light fixture dome, and twice to find the stupid switch. Rant over.

Just say "Clockwise in the Summer" "Counter-clockwise in the Fall & Winter". There, fixed it. Obviously, this is sarcasm. Should be Counter clockwise in Summer - Clockwise in Fall/Winter.
