In this episode of the National Debate, host Padmaja Joshi will discuss the Women's Reservation Bill. This video covers the landmark approval of the bill for women’s quota in India, which aims to give women one-third of the seats in Parliament and state legislatures. The bill, which was pending since 1996, was passed by both Houses in a special session of Parliament in September 2023. The bill also has a sub-quota for SC/STs according to their existing share. The bill will be implemented by 2029 after a delimitation exercise based on the census. We will also explore the views of different political parties and leaders, as well as the hurdles and prospects for women’s empowerment in India. The very fact they are dicussing OBC as an act, is holding back India in the process of modernisation for the future. The fact is the question asked is, we should be working for equality on all, and giving all right to all citizens of India without having to provide for reservations. This is what India was historically and we should be moving to this.

Women's Quota...Really? where is gender equality... Where is Men's Quota, then?
Is this not Gender discrimination? Why reservations based on Gender?

Then why there is 27% reservations for OBCs?
Let BJP and Congress merge together, let Congress conceptualize and BJP execute. There will be no such conflict and nation will progress.

Anyway all political parties work for the cause and welfare of people and nation.
