I used to be a custodian, we had to clean the men’s room last or the whole building would be sticky with pee because they either can’t work or get hella splashback. It’s annoying and disgusting AF. Sorry mother. Saying this in front of her sons. I have a sister who was beaten by her boyfriend and had to have her face reconstructed. First thing she said when she woke up was "Where's Brian." I told her mother had threatened him with the police and he was gone. I told her that her 3 kids were there and right in front of them she said "They don't matter. Only Brian matters." I was shocked at her words and sorry for her kids. Now she wonders why her grown kids want nothing to do with her. NEVER make ugly remarks in front of your kids. Ultimate cruelty!!

My dad, a marine, sat to pee. My brothers sat to pee, at home. I (the only girl in the family) eventually became a truck driver & learned to pee into an emptied water bottle when I was between truck or rest stops, or when the bathroom was in too bad a shape. Not to lend validity to that character's weird hangup, but just a reminder: you can't tell by looking at people, so stop trying.
