Bhola cyclone was one of the catalyst for the liberation of Bangladesh.

There is a lot here that can be a full video. The new rating system for cyclones, which was a bad move since people thought the new 4 was of the old system. A 4 out of 10 instead of a 4 out of 5 with clearer details. Which the Bengalis thought it was a small storm instead of a bigger one.

Along with the Bengalis fighting for their independence due to Operation Searchlight. This was instigated by the Pakistanis by their president who wanted to win his election and "solve" the "Bengal" problem. That was a brutal genocide.

As well nearly causing WW3. This is due that India was helping the Bengali rebels to spite Pakistani. And the two being friends to the Cold War superpowers, the US (PK) and Soviet Union (IN). Who both called their respectively big ally to defend (in India's case) or help (in Pakistan's case) them.

It was only thanks to the Bengalis winning the final battle and kicking the Pakistani army out of what is now Bangladesh was WW3 prevented.

As a person whose dad that time lived in Bangladesh east Pakistan, technically he was alive during the hurricane, and it lasted for two days and I asked him what he remembers and he says that it was really bad but he was from far away if you wake up in the morning in East Pakistan, 1970 pieces of debris and leaves curling in the air and slamming onto peoples homes and people would be saying oh no, my house is breaking. My house is breaking and people would be going on the roads to help out and those trees falling win it was it was horrifying and he says that the place where I got hit the worst way, and also by the way, by the way, by the way there was flooding in my dads area know what yesterday was but it wasn’t as bad as the place where it got hit the worst which is actually a city named bhola I think that’s where the name the bhola hurricane comes from
