Then 12 years later he beat his own record with Avatar

That musical score was the element of the film that made it truly magical.

Cameron spent 90 minutes on a love story and 90 minutes sinking a ship. Either story alone would have been so-so, but together they were dynamite. What he went through to make that movie, and make it successfully...he earned every single penny, in my opinion.

And thank god it worked out like that. I think titanic was so successful because of how eerily accurate the portrayal of the ship was. Not just the sinking aspect, but every little detail throughout the film really makes you feel as if you are on the ship and all the characters are real. Magic

I know Avatar is higher grossing, but Titanic is his masterpiece.

Without the soundtrack by James Horner, this movie is nothing. The soundtrack is the soul of Titanic. And Celine and Sissel's angelic voices.

Let's put it this way.. Titanic was so good, that when I took my teenage son, who was totally into video games, sports and rap, to see it, he made me take him back to see it again, the very next night lol. Mind you, he was crushing on 'Rose', but point is, the movie had something for everyone and it blended all of that so perfectly! From the actors to the special effects to the storyline! One word... BRILLIANT!
Well done James Cameron!

Kenneth Turan, film critic wrote for the Los Angeles Times that the Titanic would sink at the box office without a trace because of the love story at its heart. Barbara Shulgasser said it was the worst script she'd ever come across. Rest in peace, critics😂😂🙏🏻🙏🏻

One of the best movies I’ve ever watched. Leo should have won an Oscar

Choosing Celine Dion to sing a classic hit song at the end of this film was a stroke of luck too !

Jim, that's called luck & fate.

A sure-fire "hoist on their own petard" moment. Glad it worked out.

Nevermind the money nor the "structure" of corporate life. True art will always be recognized as Art.

Too bad they don’t make movies like this anymore.

I was working at Fox sports the day that Cameron came onto to the lot to pick up that over $1 BILLION check. It was quite the scene.
