Kerbal Space Program 2 is finally here, and I got an early look at Kerbal Space Program 2 gameplay as I reclaim the land speed record and hopefully embarrass @InternDotGif and @Blitz for calling me an architect in their videos! It was harder than expected, but nothing the UK Speed Agency can't solve!

@6:14 by elevating the flaps, the air is flowing over the wing and then hitting the flap pushing it down, this would usually make the plane fly as an equal and opposite force, but because you have flaps before and after the centre of mass it is effectively just pushing your centre of mass into the ground, which is what you want, it's counter intuitive but it makes sense when you think about it

RCE playing ksp2 is like one of those AIs that just do stuff over and over again until they figure out how to do it right. He seemingly is clueless butt through sheer force of will and trial and error still succeeds.

Your fuel tank emptying is changing your center of mass to far to the back which is why you take off.

You should have tried the parachute deployment at immediate instead of risky. I think that would have made them deploy no matter what. All in all, love your videos. I have tried that challenge on my channel as well. Love it!

Actual record is 1038 m/s, after that its already in the air.
Also, try rotation wings a little bit to have some additional force pushing you tho the ground.
P.S. You could try moving your vehicle somewhere with flatter ground and more space with some kind of shuttle.

use a negative angle of attack with the rotate tool. this will make the wings generate downforce

I understand that the channel name is real CIVIL engineer and not real AERONAUTICAL engineer, but nonetheless I must point out that he could have fixed many things including the following:

1. Place wings farther towards the back. This tends to stabilize the craft you put them on, like fletching on an arrow.

2. Place wings upside-down in order to force the aircraft into the ground. Those wings are not designed for staying down. They are meant to lift you up. That's why "pulling up" stabilized him; the aerilons directed air upwards, causing an equal and opposite force into the ground, thus also increasing your traction and stability.

3. It is generally a more horizontally stable configuration to use three wheels instead of four. This way, not only are all three wheels by definition on the same plane, they also have no possibility of turning in a fashion which does not require at least one of the wheels to either slide or steer in a different direction.
