The Grim Rapper - Robin Williams (Live 2002)

Robin Williams mixes his comedy routine with the song "Those Were The Days" by Gene Raskin, added life and death and called it "The Grim Rapper." It's included with Live 2002 on the bonus CD (filmed on Broadway). If you like the skit, then buy the CD or DVD it's hilarious. I'll provide more details on the song (if I can find the CD), clean up the lyrics and add captions soon, hopefully.

I was 16 when this song came out. I liked it and thought like Robin, I went into the Army and we all felt invincible. Now I'm 34, many of my friends and family are gone. Those were the days.

This is a REALLY GOOD routine!!! He did it in his live show he toured with back 02, not the Toronto show (the one that I saw) . I listened to this routine when my father died.

His line about being fifty and being an orphan inspired my Annie reference in my one-woman show "Hope and Gloria".
