As a completer of 9 and the Zero Games, I'm actually surprised I've never seen the resemblance of Tornado Man to MMZ's general character designs. I have at least noticed his and Splash Woman's resemblances to Harpuia and Leviathan respectively.

Also Mega man 9 has the AWESOME songs of Flash in the dark, and we're the robots, the wily stage 1 and 2 stage music respectively. It was DEFINITELY inspired by Mega man 2's soundtrack! 9 was SOLID.

I don’t know what, but the theme of Jewel Man’s stage reminds me of “Tequila” by the Champs (which was famously used in that dance scene in “Peewee’s Big Adventure.” (R.I.P., Paul Reubens)

You forgot to mention the same team that helped create Megaman A (the mini game from MMZX Advent) were tasked to create MM9 after their plan in fully developing Megaman A as an actual game was cancelled.
