Make walking easier even with arthritis with these 2 simple moves

Walking is all about weight shifting ☝🏽

When you’re walking you have to be able to shift your weight from one leg to the other but do it rather quickly

If you feel hesitant about putting full bodyweight through one leg due to pain or not trusting the leg- it’s time to work on it!

These are two moves that can help if you do them 2-3 times per day. The most important thing is to make sure they feel OKAY ⚠️

If they significantly flare up your pain- you can try adding support of a kitchen counter or other stable surface ⚠️

If they don’t feel okay right now, there are other options to try!

Both of these moves help you to practice getting more confident putting your full weight through each of your legs 👍🏽

These also make for a great warm up before you head out on a walk- even if you feel fairly confident with weight shifting ✅

Hi Alyssa, your exercises are really helping my mom. I've started doing them also because sometimes I have issues from an old cheerleader injury. Ii didn't know I needed these exercises. Thank you.

Thanks alisa. Definatly get some improvement with this. Another thing i am finding is i get more relief at night when i sleep on my back with my upper torso elevated and a pillow under my knees. Hard for me to sleep that way. I can sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees but i wake up with more pain. Sleeping on my back and doing these exercises helps alot during flare ups.❤

I’m 36 yo woman! I’m also obese! I had a bad fall twice and I was diagnosed with OA in my knees, thighs ankles and back! I can’t even walk! I’m bed bound! Help, and advice! My hips have OA too!
