The comment that usually appears under these videos are: "Dirty Loops is what happens when every person in the band is the best musician in the band...."

Yeah if you know anything about playing an instrument or music in general it'll take you about 30 seconds to realise that they're actually insane. As far as I know they're all studio musicians with pop or jazz degrees who were buddies before already and then started this band to have their own creative outlet. I can only describe their music like "imagine jazz and funk had a super talented baby and it wants to make pop music".

Welcome down the rabbit hole of Dirty Loops hehe

You are now loopified, once you have jumped into that rabbit hole there is no turning back. They are by far the most interesting music phenomenon entering the music scene in decades and I simply love it.

I think the most mindblowing part of this song is finding out that literally ALL the vocals in this track are Jonah, the lead singer. Aron the drummer wrote these choir backing vocals super last-minute, then he and Jonah assigned each part a "character", and Jonah would distort his voice to fit part so it would sound like a full choir.

Hahaha, what a wonderful reaction! I just love to see someone experiencing Dirty Loops for the first time and have their mind blown. They started the group as a hobby project in 2008, and never thought it would be anything other than that. In 2010 they put up a video on youtube (a cover of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance"), as a booking reference, to see if they could get a gig or two, just for fun, as they thought their music was way too unsexy for anyone to actually like it. Needless to say, they were completely wrong. The video went viral and a LOT of people absolutely loved it. Just about everything they've ever released is of this ridiculous musical quality, so if you consider checking out more of them, you could basically pick anything, and you more than likely won't be disappointed. My personal favourite is one of their more jazz fusion-y pieces, "Work Shit Out".

They've all known each other and played together for 20+ years by now, in their mid-thirties. Jonah (keyboard/vocals) and Henrik (bass) even went to music elementary school together and met when Henrik was 11 and Jonah was 9. Aron (drums) comes from another part of Sweden and came along when he moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, to attend the same music high school as they did (he was in the year between the other two). Then they all attended Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm, where Henrik and Aron studied jazz/rock, and Jonah opted for music production as his main subject.

Believe it or not, but Jonah says the piano is his first instrument, not the singing. He comes from a family of classical musicians, and has sung in choirs (mostly chamber choirs) his whole life, but started studying the classical piano when he was 11 and then switched to jazz mid-highschool. When they started the band he had never sung lead and didn't even know if he could. These dudes are ridiculous! 🤯

Pure, unadulterated perfection is what you just watched. Get into it!

Henrik is endorsed by EBS amps in Sweden, hence the massive wall of amps in most of their videos. People even started making comments about it on their videos like: How many amps does Henrik need ? All of them ! etc etc . He jokingly turned that around though in the "World on fire" video where he's using only one of the smaller EBS amps with a ton of different mics instead !🤣

Standing ovation from me. This really is one of the most melodic compositions from them. Pure genius from all of them.

I tbink the bass amp stack is a joke… other videos they have 5 mics on a 15 amp speaker… this one, 7 monster stacks… all done in fun. Live he plays I think 1 8x10 maybe ..😊

Every vocal you hear on this track is Jonah. He did all the vocal tracks (including the multi- layered choir stuff) himself, going so far as to imagine the different "singers" having different characters and vocal sounds. Henrik and Aaron are only vamping for the video.

Watch Work Shit Out. Jonah plays piano and keys simultaneously, Henrik shreds, and Aron will leave you on the floor with his solo. These guys are just so much fun, so GOOD, so musical, so talented! I'm 70, and I've never seen anything as good as these guys. They are my absolute favorite, I listen to them daily. And don't miss their credits, their sense of humor is hysterical. Aron & Henrik have been playing together since middle school. They were all at school together (the top music school in Sweden) but Jonah is a year younger, so didn't actually play with them much in school.
