You do excellent work. The more I learn about Dyson, the less impressed I am by them.

You know your video really helped me I actually thought these did not have filters and they had effective Cyclone until I watched your video

Thing is as well. Once you start getting into the 2 tier and 3 tier cyclone systems. You sacrifice suction however gain finer dust particle coming out. Because now you have more cyclone restrictions and debris fields in those systems. However the finer the particles the more static cling. What Dyson needs to do is a reversal flow self cleaning setting for the cyclone canister. I wish there was a way to eliminate static cling inside the cyclone outside cavities. The cinetic oscillating tips are an OK idea which I call dynamic shakers to drop the particulate out, however they need to be directed in a way that they go directly into the bottom of the bin. Or Dyson should have a maintenance program where every 6 months to a year during and after the warranty period if heavily used have the cyclone canister taken apart and thoroughly cleaned and all filters checked. That way it may alleviate constantly replacing the filters.

I hate this vacuum. I had a Dyson D17 Animal and loved that machine! But after a little over 5 year the brush starting making a terrible noise and I tried a belt and new brush and didn’t fix it.

I thought I would “upgrade” to the Big Ball Cinetic about 5 years ago and it’s terrible. It is weak sauce. And because it doesn’t have a pre motor filter you can’t get the smell out of the machine. With the D17 I never had unpleasant odors. Don’t buy a Cinetic. They are cheap, weak, stinky, and total waste of money.

I got a Rainbow E2 Black, right before they changed to the SRX, and I love it! It’s a lot to setup and teardown but it works fantastic and smells amazing with the scented oils in the water.

I know that cyclones are limited to removing larger particles, and have read studies stating that the limit is around 5 microns (smallest). The HEPA filters are needed to remove smaller stuff, so I entirely agree with what you've stated. Now, I know they've advertised as *not* needing filter replacement, hmm. Still, the Dyson had a much stronger vacuum than my previous home machines.

i am in Australia and service/salvage broken Dyson's to fix and have fixed 40-50 machines. from the DC08 to the DC54 (cylinder type) which is popular in Australia. And you are right! the dust passes through the cyclone and clogs the HEPA filter, overheats the motor and kills the carbon brushes. Dyson Australia has repeatedly refused to answer questions about how or why its happening and their advertisements claim no filters to replace which is completely false. the HEPA filters should be replaced yearly or once every 2 years depending on how often its used.

Dang those are some expensive filters.

Modern bagged vacuums that uses cloth bags never loses suction until the bags are densely packed with dirt, dust, and debris.

Dayum only 5 microns? That's literally paper bag filtration level lol. The reputation for bagged vacuums that clogged up and didn't filter well needs to die since that was back when paper bags were the only option. Synthetic hepa bags are a completely different ball game.

We purchased this vacuum when our daughter was born. She will be 6 this month. I LOVE this vacuum. My KIRBY is only used in the basement due to it being so dang heavy. I had the brush head replaced under warranty. If you use the machine properly and keep it clean you will have no issue. I only looked for this video because we have a dog and the smell is starting to come through as I use it. I will gladly pay for 2 filters. This unit has minimal maintenance and I see no problem with it. I will buy another one whenever it dies

Thanks for time taken to show us . I all ways find Dyson's only lasting less than 10 years .
I wonder why? So there is two filters to be change, Not just the one filter as Dyson says and Dyson says to wash this one filter a few times a year , My old Nilfisk is 20 years and still going and other barrel vac had in the distant past last like the Nilfisk has lasted and picks up the dirt well .

Miele or a numatic would filter perfectly and are both low-maintenance, high quality and very good pickup. And from trust worthy trouble-free brands. Spend a little, make it an investment, you will be impressed

Thanks very much for posting this video, I have this vacuum and I couldn't figure out why it was shooting clouds of dust when I started it up. I took it apart and holy smokes yes those filters were absolutely filthy. I've had it less than a year, I don't understand how this can be marketed as a no filter's to clean vacuum, do they just want me to toss the entire thing after a year?

We have a Dyson for convenience but still use a kirby legend 2 for a good hoovering round when the children are inbed

Of course they clog. Just like any vacuum. Dysons are designed to be maintained if not they yes blockage will occur. Research people!!

You compare a very white piece of paper to the dirty filter, why not compare the new filter you already have there and do a side by side?? That would be the ethical way to compare as the paper you showed to compare to the dirty filter is even more white than the new filter. Also you showed both sides of the dirty filter, why not show both sides of the new one?? Other than that, great video.

Yup pre motors filters aren't invincible no matter if it's a cinetic. You'll never get away from fine dust over time

you are correct Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Upright Cleaner doesn't have a maintenance filters. it will restrict air flow and lose suction. the issue of the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Upright Cleaner is the filters were clogged tap it you can see dust flying out of it and it needs to be changed. I have Dyson Ball Upright Cleaner. it has maintenace filters I wash it 3 months so I let it dry on 24 hours when it's completely dry. I put the lifetime hepa filters back to the cleaner machine successful. good to go. (^_^)
