Single chain rings are rubbish and way slower when there's a sudden change of gradient on a technical riding path.
Road cleats are shit - you have to wear shoes that are difficult to walk in. If there is an advantage its way too small for 99.9% of riding.

This doesn't really explain the difference between gravel and road. There are many differences, the last of which are the front chainring and your of pedals. Neither of mine came with pedals. I use Crank Brothers on all my bikes. My gravel bike has flat on one side and a clip on the other. My road bike is double sided. What about geometry, gearing, rims, tires, type of bars, etc
